Words Left Unsaid

I sometimes think we humans are very afraid of risk taking. I’m not talking about the risks involved in downhill skiing, parachuting or one’s “high” risk activity of choice. I’m talking about putting ourselves “out there” by telling those who are special to us the difference they make to our lives. Essentially making ourselves vulnerable.

When people are important to us, it is good to tell them. We all know how fragile and unpredictable life can be. One minute we seem to have all the time in the world and the next minute, time has run out.

Sometimes I think we spend too much time in our own heads, thinking our thoughts and imagining the person (people) we are thinking about, can read our mind and, possibly by telepathy, knows how much we value them. I suspect it all comes down to being afraid.

What we may be afraid of is as varied and unique as each of us. Perhaps we are afraid we don’t mean as much to them as they do to us. Who knows?

At the end of the day all that matters is this, when we care we should make absolutely sure those who matter to us know how very much we care. The loving words should not be left unsaid.
