The Princess and the cat toy

Princess G and I were Walmart the other day when she begged me to buy her a cat toy. I was marginally worried, I know thirteen can be a challenging age, but a cat toy? I was edging past the aquariums at the time (my fish issues were on my mind) so wasn’t as focused on her as perhaps would have been helpful.
I am the first to admit I enjoy toys. I have a bit of a fixation on combing Barbie’s hair and making certain any My Little Ponies have tidy manes and tails, so I could appreciate her considering a glittering, frilly blue “goldfish” at the end of the most attractive fishing line fun. Additionally, I believe kids grow up much too fast…
I inquired if she thought she would have fun with the cat fishing line. The Princess gave me a look of exasperation, and replied, “It’s for Chloe.”
I found her on the deck yesterday playing with the fishing rod. She looked perfectly content. The Princess was even talking to herself as she tossed the fish around…Chloe just sat and watched her play.
