"Seven Pounds"

So, it’s almost the end of an extremely eventful year. I believe in living “in the moment”, but, I will not miss this year. It’s been exhausting. I am optimistic the coming year will be an improvement. I do not doubt 2009 will present it’s own challenges, but…
Christmas seemed to happen all of a sudden and then just as suddenly, it was past. I like the warmth of the Christmas season, but not the busyness. I like to curl up in front of the tree and the fire and read, reflect and relax.
Yesterday I saw Will Smith’s “Seven Pounds”. “Seven Pounds” is a movie which will make you think, and may even motivate the viewer to live more altruistically. It definitely is a movie to see just as a new year is about to begin.
The Princess and I must have inadvertently decided Monday was movie day, because then we watched “The Women” last night. Also an excellent movie, but not as thought provoking as “Seven Pounds”.
Anyway, back to “Seven Pounds”, I’m not going to give away anything about this movie, but give some thought to the title. What weighs 7 lbs?
Can we equate the weight of something with it’s value? Perhaps being our “best” self, which has no tangible weight, is the most valuable gift we can offer to ourselves and to those around us.
