August reflecting

It’s August. How did this happen? One day the summer stretches before me and the next we’re on the “countdown” to the 1st of September. Actually, it’s even sooner than this as I go into school during the last week of August to organize my space and for program planning meetings.

I suppose the summer got off to a slow start with lots of rain and cool temperatures. I did manage a few beach days, even if some of them turned out to be days when the beaches were enrobed in fog.

Now, however, my freckles are back. The weather has improved, as in it’s warm and sunny and feels like summer. I needed this and I don’t want it to be over.

I leave for a “me time” vacation on Tuesday. I’m going to Toronto and really, really looking forward to this break. The only “good” thing about the second week of August arriving is this trip. My first in 5 years. Much too long. I used to travel all the time.

I checked Environment Canada’s site for weather and the latter part of next week is predicted to be sunny and hot in Toronto. Ha! I wonder if I’ll be complaining of the heat, rather than always saying “It’s so cold. I’m cold.” This would be a change!

So, I come back from T.O., otherwise known as the T dot, am home for a day and then we go to Cape Breton. What more could I ask for? My own mini vacay and then my rejuvenation oasis in Cape Breton. Another spot which apparently has been sunny and warm for the entire summer.

I am so excited about adding to my beach glass collection; hiking; lying on the beach watching eagles and seal spotting. I’m looking forward to electrical storms over the ocean; moose sightings, possibly bear too.

I couldn’t be looking forward to my two adventures more, but, they herald the end of my summer and relaxation. I’ve decided to deal with this realization by staying very much in the moment. I am NOT thinking about anything (well, as much as is possible) other than each day as it arrives. I am savoring the moment. So far, it’s working.
